Bali Hotels Association (BHA) is shocked and saddened by the latest terrorist attacks. Our condolences and sympathy go out to those who have been affected by this tragedy BHA condemns this action. Fortunately no hotels have been affected and hotels are reporting ?business as usual? with a minimal amount of people leaving the island following the tragedy as reported by hotels and travel agents. Hotels are not as yet seeing any cancellations however do expect to receive some cancellations however nothing like the magnitude of the previous tragedy.

3 blasts went off in Bali just before 8pm on the 1st of October. Two are reported to be on the Jimbaran beach and one in Raja's restuarant in Kuta Square. It is too early at this stage to give any further information Hotels have stepped up security and are ensuring all in house guests are accounted for

Early on the morning of Sunday. October 2, 2005, community leaders and representatives of Bali?s tourism industry convened an emergency meeting following the tragic bombing of two Bali dining venues the night before.

The Goverment of Bali has been proactive and has been preempting the situation sometime ago to alleviate any risk of bird flu spreading to the Island of Bali. BHA has maintained close contact and communication with the department of livestock in Bali as well as WHO and PATA.

At 2.30am on the 15th of September there was a fire at Catur Kembar, a small villa complex in Jalan Kunti, Seminyak. The fire was caused by an exploding gas bottle and it destroyed 9 villas. All the guests were evacuated safely and there were no casualties. The villas were completed and opened in November 2004

Bali Hotels Association has reissued the security guidelines and recommendations to it?s membership following the finding of a suspicious package which was identified by an alert member of staff at a member hotel on August 31st and subsequently found to be false alarm
