? One Island One Voice: We began our meeting with a presentation from One Island One Voice, who introduced us to the Komitmen 2.0 pledge. This pledge underscores the fundamental actions we should all be taking: eliminating single-use plastics, segregating waste at the source, on-site composting, sourcing local products, and repurposing food waste. Elvira, from One Island One Voice, also provided information on partner organizations in Bali that can assist with developing and executing sustainability strategies, such as Youthtopia and Mantra Bali.
⚙ Scholars of Sustenance: Our second partner, Scholars of Sustenance, shared an inspiring way to tackle food waste. They discussed how hotels can collaborate with them to redirect food waste away from landfills and toward communities in need. It's remarkable to note that many of our establishments generate over 100 kilograms of food waste daily, of which 20-40% can be repurposed if managed efficiently. Best of all, this process comes at no cost.
? Perumda Dharma Santhika: Mr Kompyang enlightened us on the significance of sourcing food locally, emphasizing the positive impact it can have. He provided insights into connecting with local farmers and fostering meaningful relationships.
We remain committed to driving sustainability in Bali's hospitality industry and look forward to more collaborative efforts in the future. Let's continue our journey towards a greener and more responsible future!
