Villages urged to develop tourism - Dec 20, 2011
Bank Indonesia and the Bali Hotels Association (BHA) have launched an initiative to assist villages across the island to develop village-based, eco-friendly tourism.
The central bank will provide the funds while the association will provide the expertise.
As many as seven villages have agreed to participate in the initiative.
The villages are Pinge in Tabanan, Petulu in Gianyar, Penglipuran in Bangli, Belimbingsari in Jembrana, Pancasari in Buleleng, Jasri and Budakeling in Karangasem.
The initiative will organize training and workshops aimed at improving villagers? hospitality skills, among other skills.
The initiative would also see renovation and construction projects aimed at converting villagers? houses and the village community halls into lodging and dining facilities.

THE WESTIN RESORT NUSA DUA, BALI PRESENTS COOKIES FOR CHARITY CREATED BY CHAMPIONS - Nov 03, 2011
Bali, 2 November 2010,- The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali invited two high profile international players from the 2011 Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions - part of Sony Ericsson WTA Tours to create cookies for charity. Anna Ivanovic, winner of the 2010 Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions together with Roberta Vinci participated in this worthwhile initiative.
Guided by Ewald Jeske, Executive Chef of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, the players created a few of their favourite flavoured cookies. The finished treats were then sold at the Tennis Village during the tournament to raise funds for UNICEF?s education projects in Asia Pacific. For 16 years UNICEF and Starwood Hotels and Resorts have been working together to raise funds for the world?s most vulnerable children ? with over AUD$7M raised since the program began.

Grand Istana Rama volunteered to teach English lesson school children at Carang Sari village. - Nov 02, 2011
In order to support the implementation of ?Tri Hita Karana? concept which consist of Parahyangan (relationship with God), Pawongan (relationship with humans) and Palemahan (relations with the environment), on this occasion Grand Istana Rama participated in the Pawongan (relationship with humans) where staff from Grand Istana Rama volunteered to teach English lesson followed by 80 children grade three to six elementary and 20 junior high school children at Carang Sari village.
This event held every Thursday start at 2 PM until 3.30 PM WITA. Followed by Grand Istana Rama employees, including Resident Manager and staff as a volunteer teacher.
