Bali generates over 1.2 million tons of solid waste annually, yet only about 48% of that is managed responsibly. Of all the waste generated, hotels, especially in tourism hotspots like southern Bali, account for about 20% of local waste there. Households contribute over 50% of all waste generation. While tourists may produce significantly more waste per person than local communities their overall contribution is about 13% of Bali’s total waste. As part of community BHA members will continue to lead by example.  Bali’s waste challenge can only be solved through collective action. As licensed accommodation providers we remain committed to sustainability and promote responsible travel to Bali.

BHA Member Hotels are :

- Comply with Government regulations

- Invest in recycling & segregation

- Have eliminated single-use plastics and formed partnerships with local NGOs to manage waste responsibly

- Food Waste Reduction Programs

- Fund community clean-ups

- Sustainability Workshops & Training

- Through Welcome Back to Bali we encourage responsible travel /tourism to travellers while in Bali
