BALI UNAFFECTED BY EARTHQUAKE, TSUNAMI - Dec 27, 2004
BALI, INDONESIA, December 28, 2004?Bali Hotel Association (BHA) is deeply saddened by the devastating effects of the Richter 9. undersea quake epicentered off the Indonesian island of Sumatra and the dramatic aftereffects caused by tsunamis around the southern Asian region. Bali was completely untouched by the December 26th quake that caused death and injuries in western Indonesia, Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the Maldives and India.

Indonesian Earthquake - Dec 26, 2004
Bali - 12pm - December 27th 2004 - An earthquake struck around 8am, local time, on December 26th, the epicentre of which was located off Northern Aceh, Indonesia.
No tremors were felt in Bali. Recognised as the worlds biggest earthquake in 40 years measuring 9 on the richter scale causing waves as high as ten meters to strike tourist resorts in Thailand, Malaysia, India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Bali was fortunate not to experience any repercussions following the earthquake however it is reported that over 4,300 people have been killed on the Indonesian Island of Sumatra.
Bali Hotels Association expresses its? shock at this event which has taken the lives of over 12,000 people in the South East Asian region of which the numbers are anticipated to still rise.
The Association is currently looking at ways in which we can provide aid to those areas in North Sumatra (Aceh) and will post details on this site shortly.

Bali Hotels Association reiterates precautionary measures.... - Dec 16, 2004
Following further information from foreign governments in relation to a potential imminent terrorist attack aimed at international hotels frequented by foreigners, the Bali Hotels Association, an Association of 62 star rated hotels has today issued a statement to reiterate and reassure tourists to Bali of the measures to ensure their safety and security.

The original English website went on-line in January and logs more than 5,000 unique visitors monthly. Japanese are the top visitors to Bali, with 276,350 arrivals between January and October 2004.

BALI, INDONESIA, October, 27 2004?More than 50 percent of respondents to a recent survey indicate that ?definitely, probably or maybe? their decision to return to Indonesia again is impacted by the current visa policy. Such opinions are among findings compiled by Bali Hotels Association (BHA), in response to government appeals for statistical information and feedback relating to the implementation of the February 2004 visa policy.

Australian Airlines serves Perth - Bali - Sep 24, 2004
AUSTRALIAN Airlines will launch twice weekly flights between Perth and Bali from December 2.
Australian Airlines chief executive, Ms Andrea Staines said: ?This will be Australian Airlines? first service from Perth and it will see us expand our operations between Australia and Bali to seven flights each week.?
The services which will run on Thursdays and Saturdays will operate on the all-Economy Class Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
Currently, Qantas continues to operate a Tuesday service for the route but will cease services on February 1, 2005. From then on, Australian Airlines will be the Qantas Group?s sole operator of flights between Perth and Bali.
?This means that during the peak holiday period between December and January, there will be two Australian Airlines flights and one Qantas flight between Perth and Bali each week offering 686 seats,? Ms Staines said

Bomb Blast in Jakarta - Sep 09, 2004
Bali September 9th - There was a large explosion on Jln Rasuna Said, Kunungan, Jakarta outside Plaza 89 and within close proximity to the Australian Embassy in Jakarta at around midday on the 9th September 2004.
At this moment in time there is little news available as to the reasons or motives of this incident and therefore it is too early to make comment.
